Artificial Insemination (AI)
The veterinary input to AI is greater than with natural service due to the requirement for accurately predicting and regulating the time of ovulation. This is less important with fresh semen but vital with frozen semen. This is due to the short survival time of frozen semen once thawed and inseminated. Also with frozen semen special drugs are used to regulate the ovulation time and mares are required to be scanned more frequently. Our expertise and experience allow us to remove the stress and worry for mare owners who otherwise would have to arrange semen delivery and to be present for the many veterinary visits. By using our dedicated centre we can offer an all in package which gives your mare the best chance to get in foal as soon as possible. Our veterinary surgeons within the practice are highly experienced in artificial insemination, enabling us to give expert cover seven days a week.
AI Discounted Packages
We offer a variety of breeding package fees designed to aid you, the breeder, in planning your breeding budget. Packages range from basic to all-inclusive, and should help draw your attention to most common eventualities. In addition we have;
• On site Veterinary Practice specialising in Equine Reproduction

A. Chilled Semen
Breeding with chilled semen offers slightly more flexibility in time of insemination, and therefore requires fewer ultrasound examinations as a general rule compared to breeding with frozen semen. Although it is preferred that mares are brought in to the clinic for breeding, in some cases we can perform the breeding work on the yard. This will depend upon your location and scheduling required for semen delivery. If you wish your mare to be bred on the yard, enquire if this is an option with one of our veterinarians.
